A “Guerilla” spin on Best Practices Across the Product Life Cycle, Specializing in “0 to 1”
Given our focus on “0 to 1” (new-to-the-world products, or MVP 1.0), Tony Ulwick has influenced our practice the most, because, he developed a scientific approach to identifying latent unmet needs. So, rather than coming up with a good product idea, he showed us that it’s possible to uncover significant new market opportunities. Ulwick introduced us to Jobs Mapping, or Jobs to Be Done, and evolved this into Outcome-Driven-Innovation (ODI).
Our Principal Consultant, John Miniati, has spent over a decade refining his own approach to Jobs-to-be-Done, which is more practical and better suited for Startup, High-Growth, and Midsized firms. Rather than a 6-month new market analysis and opportunity assessment, John has boiled this down to a 3 week process.
The biggest mistake companies make with new software products is a “build it first” (idea-first) approach, rather than a “needs first” (customer-centric) approach. But once you’ve identified your next million-dollar opportunity, that’s when the real work begins.
Our practice helps Clients rapidly translate Identified Opportunities into cost-effective Business Results, by executed well-understood best practices in Product Management, Agile, Lean UX, and Outsourcing.
